The indigraph is a game changer for me. Paired with Rohr and Klinger Sketch ink it works as expected with a medium nib (good flow, smooth feel, consistent line quality). I have a bunch of Daler Rowney artist acrylic ink and though that specific ink was not on any of Indigraph’s testing documentation I decided to give it a whirl. My ink is quite old, and I am in the process of filtering, diluting, adjusting it with various additives. But the first batch I tried in the pen had only been filtered once to rid coagulations and debris due to old age. Long story short it was magic. I am an artist and prefer to work in a line and wash/ink and watercolor style. This pen and ink combo produced an extraordinary range of line weights, and I could control them very precisely. “this is the pen I have always dreamed of” I thought. Fast forward a couple days and that magic dissolved as I realized the old ink was clogging the feed. I am now in the process of experimenting with different ink modification recipes to capture that initial experience. And I am getting very, very close! In any case, this pen is opening up a new world of artistic possibility as it grants access to a range of dip pen inks which are much more waterproof and lightfast than many of the fountain pen inks I have tried. If I had the budget I’d buy at least one more pen, but alas I cannot jump into that yet.

The biggest complaint I have is the barrel circumference and the fact that I can’t post the cap. One would think that for a pen that depends on keeping the cap handy, it would be a priority to post the cap. Just a few threads on the end cap of the barrel would do the trick! But as I am sketching in parks, next to rivers and on trails I must keep track of the cap like I would my car keys, hidden deep in a bag pocket to ensure safety. Which then leads to the feed drying up a bit as I pause to observe or ponder or get distracted by the goings on. Also I have big hands and it hurts my hand to draw with it for too long. A self adhesive wrap is resolving that issue currently, but it would be nice to have a wider barreled option.

Bottom line is I’ve been searching for the drawing experience this pen (and my special daler rowney ink blend) delivers for four years. Convenience and portability of a fountain pen, properties of dip pen ink, large ink converter for long days of drawing. One pen to rule them all.
