A real steel BB

I've purchased my fair share of BB nibs and while other companies can produce BB in Gold, the steel BBs have always been a disappointment.

I've received a few(five, from two different orders) nibs from Osprey and they have all out preformed every single steel BB from other manufactures. Flow has been significantly better and the line width on the page is actually what I would call a real BB.

I always think that line width is king, but comparing Osprey nibs to the other steel BBs I realize flow makes a significant difference to how good I feel about the nib. A wider line that does not have enough flow can make a lovely black look grey and cheap.

My last and probably most important point in this is QC, I don't know if the manufacturing process is just better or if they get tuned but I have yet to see the tipping/slitting issues from "luxury" manufacturers. I've dropped $300+ on a nib that required rework and tuning multiple times. That hasn't been a problem I've run into with these BB from Osprey.

The Best Value in Nibs!!!

I've been using these nibs for the last four months and they are awesome. They write very smoothly for me and I find them to have just enough flex to them without feeling springy. I particularly love the EF. Now whenever I get a new pen, I pick up one of these to put in it.

I'd like to add that Osprey's customer service and communication are outstanding. Every time I've had a question, someone gets back to me. They are a pleasure to deal with.

Nib is superb, but unit did not fit

I chalk it up to me not doing my research, but I wanted to swap out a Conklin Jowo Omniflex nib. That unit does not match the diameter of this unit, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it was a #6 size nib that I could swap out.

I saw someone post about OspreyPens and their excellent nibs on the Fountain Pen Network. So, that's what brought me here. I bet on this, and it turned out great.

The nib itself writes quite smooth for a Fine, and it writes on the smaller end with my Conklin Endura. (which had flow issues with the Omniflex) This nib can actually get more line variation and use out of it than the Omniflex, and that's saying something with it not advertising it. (don't push it, or you'll ruin the tines, I'm sure)

The lack of embellishment of design on the nib could be a double edged sword, but the brand name and nib size is easily visible. Maybe a future design with the brand logo is in the works...?

Get this if you're trying to switch out a #6 size nib for sure. I can't speak on the Jowo unit compatibility because my pen is a Conklin pen, after all. However, I *WILL* be back to shop more! Thanks again!
