The Osprey Scholar Zebra G Flex Fountain Pen is now available in a JoWo-compatible configuration, combining the expressive line variation of the Zebra G dip nib with the flexibility and customization of the popular JoWo-compatible fountain pen ecosystem.
Designed for calligraphers, sketchers, illustrators, and expressive writers, this pen delivers dramatic line variation and responsive performance in a comfortable, slender-bodied fountain pen.
Unlike standard Osprey fountain pens, which utilize an M8 × 0.75 section thread, the JoWo-compatible Scholar is fitted with a dedicated section featuring an M7.5 × 0.5 thread pattern, compatible with many Size 6 JoWo-style nib units available in the marketplace. Osprey JoWo-compatible sections can be easily identified by the letter "J" imprinted on the section. Standard Osprey sections do not carry this marking.
Zebra G Flex System
The Zebra G flex nib is fitted with Osprey's custom multi-fissure ebonite feed, engineered to provide a generous and consistent ink supply during flex writing. The feed is paired with a custom wide-mouth Zebra G converter designed specifically to meet the high ink demands of the Zebra G nib.
This combination provides exceptional ink flow for Copperplate, Spencerian, sketching, illustration, and expressive handwriting applications.
Important Compatibility Information
Please note that the Zebra G JoWo-compatible section is compatible only with the Osprey custom Zebra G converter supplied with the pen. Standard international converters, standard JoWo converters, Schmidt converters, and other aftermarket converters are not compatible with this Zebra G system.
The pen may also be used in eyedropper configuration without a converter. However, this is done entirely at the user's discretion and risk. Certain highly saturated or permanent inks may stain demonstrator or lighter-colored pen materials over time. Osprey Pens cannot guarantee against staining resulting from eyedropper use.
Maintenance & Care
Because Zebra G nibs are manufactured from spring steel rather than stainless steel, they require periodic maintenance and eventual replacement as part of normal use. Even titanium-coated Zebra G nibs can develop corrosion over time depending on ink choice, environmental conditions, and cleaning practices.
For best performance:
• Use only fountain-pen-friendly inks.
• Avoid India inks, acrylic inks, shellac-based inks, and highly pigmented inks.
• Use pH-neutral fountain pen inks whenever possible.
• Clean the nib and feed regularly.
• Dry the nib after cleaning and before long-term storage.
Replacement Zebra G nibs, custom ebonite feeds, converters, and complete Zebra G nib assemblies are available separately for easy maintenance and continued performance.
